Ya know....I really like that and have been thinking of something like that...but more behind the cockpit (where the tiller would snag on it!).
I may have to get out the reciprocating saw. Shouldn't be rocket science to make and could have all kinds of positive reasons and custom aspects. The walls could go down to the hull and offer more support too. Great place for insp ports too.
Hack job or good idea? (The idea is to make it look on par with "factory" of course)

Go all the way through, and make a glass bottom boat.

But make the glass removable, so you can insert a trolling motor.

You know...i had thought of the clear bottom but fear it would get scratched quickly. Could make it easily replaceable though.
