Rascal 14 question

I recently purchased a Rascal 14. The mainsail does not have a boom. I am confused as to where to run the mainsail line. I was told it goes through the rigging that is just behind the centerboard (close to midship). That position seems to be too far forward, as the sail cannot extend back far enough. Besides two mooring rings on the stern, there does not seem to be any place to run the line.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

If this is what your boat looks like, it sure should have a boom.
