Race Sail

I am thinking about buying a race sail for my sunfish and I would like to know how much of an improovement it is from a normal sail. Also, what is the major difference between the race and normal sails.

A race sail is somewhat larger and fuller making for a more powerful sail in all conditions.
It also has a nice view window, necessary when you set the boom low for maximum speed.
It is quite an improvement over the average class approved recreational sail and most if not all aftermarket sails. You won't find a serious racer sailing with anything but a class approved race sail.

Most are all white, but for the World's regatta where boats and sails are provided to
the racers, special race sails are made with colored panels and special graphics. You can often find these sails for sale from dealers and individuals right after the Worlds.
