Question: Byte CII sail on a Laser

Sam Tobio

The all-rounder
Hey guys just asking, would a byte CII sail work on a laser? I am thinking this would be a fun rig, all I know is that the main sheets are different, anything else?

I have one nice race sail, but I think this would be a really cool and fun leisure sail.

Is there any gain or loss with this (other than the main sheet)?

Please evaluate a bit further, I understand that the sail is smaller than a lasers, but please evaluate further. What about the megabyte II sail?

The Byte sail is significantly shorter on the foot, which is going to move the Ce forward, which will change the feel on the helm, in light air it might feel terrible (no helm or possibly even lee helm), in a breeze it might feel more balanced (less weather helm)

You would be better off investing your money in a time machine that will take you to 2050. Hopefully by then the Laser will have a fully battened mylar sail; unfortunately, it will be engineered to perform no better than your current 1969 Dacron. If you want some fancy sail, do not sail a Laser.
