I have a 1988 Robert Carr designed C&C 41 with a shoal draft keel. I have been told that I will have more difficulty pointing with this boat than I would with a traditional fin keel. But my concern is that I should at least be able to point to the wind (even if I sacrifice speed) with a good sail plan.
I have old sail and it is ridiculous to try to go any closer than 40 degrees to the wind or my mainsail backwinds and a come to a near halt.
