We just moved up to a j105 and am selling my 1978 j24. The boat was completely updated in the last 10 years, but is due for a refresh. She can be sailed with no issues for a number of years, but you will want to pay attention to details, such as the bottom job and one potential soft spot in the stbd deck at the chain plate, as well as a thorough cleaning. It comes with a custom j24 trailer that has been completely updated this year - new bearings, tires, brakes, lights and hitch coupler. All it needs is a coat of paint and you have a new-to-you trailer. As you will see in the pics, it started life as an Etchells trailer, so the J24 rides stern-first on it. It is very distinctive - your friends will never miss you going down the highway.

The engine is a 4hp Suzuki longshaft that was fully serviced two years ago and runs great. Always starts on the 2nd pull.

The boat comes with two plus suits of sails, plus safety gear. It has interior cushions, but they need to be recovered. I know where a set is that can be had for cheap. It is wired for dockside power and a bilge pump, so you can leave it in the water or dry sail it, as you prefer.

Down below the boat has had no attention paid to it, other than keeping it dry, for the last five years - we just sailed it. It needs a thorough cleaning, but that is why it is cheap.

I have spent $2,500 on the boat and trailer in the last 6 months getting it ready for the next owner. I am just trying to get that money out of it, but feel free to make a cash offer.

A full price offer gets the Lopez blocks that are on the boat. Anything less than $2,500, those go on eBay.

I am now selling parts of the boat. Everything is available, with the exception of the following, which have been sold:
Rudder, Tiller and Tiller extension
Cockpit winches
Traveler and Mainsheet blocks
All sheets - Spin, Jib and Main
Outboard Engine
All Sails

That leaves the trailer, the hull, including all hatches and associated fittings, the mast, boom and spinnaker pole, all interior components, including cushions, which are usable but need cleaning, electrical system, sink and ladder, bow and stern pulpits, stanchions, life lines, shrouds and stays, plus all deck fittings, less the traveler and winches.

Thanks for reaching out to me. The keel, the cement above it and the bolts are all fine. The bar the lifting shackle attaches to for hoisting the boat is potentially problematic. One end of the bar was working loose and a previous owner glassed over that end heavily to repair it - I am not sure it is adequate. If you are going to lift the boat by Slings and/or keep it in the water, should not be a problem, but if you were going to regularly lift the boat the hoist, it will need a more thorough repair. It could be as simple as a stainless plate over top of the bar end with four lag bolts into the fiberglass. I would recommend doing this on either end of the bar, if that is the path you need to go. I have all of the tools and materials to do that job, which we could knock out in a couple of hours when you come to pick up the boat. You can have the hull for free, just need to cover materials cost on the repair, if you want me to do that. And, for mileage costs, I could potentially deliver the hull to you in the next few weeks. Awesome Mike, I’m meeting with my committe to discuss this tonight. I don’t want to surprise them, but the boat we have now is going to be crushed. The keel is about to fall out, we have to come up with a workable alternative, the kids love this boat, and between covid and now not being able to get this one fixed, I’m hoping this will do the trick!

if I get the go ahead, I would do the repair as you mentioned to ensure if we have to drop in on a crane somewhere else we can. But let’s catch up tomorrow, thanks for the quick answer.

- the hull, but will likely be cutting it up next week to scrap the lead
- the trailer - new lights, tires, bearings and brakes in 2019 and only 100 miles on it since then
- the mast - can sell newer vintage spreaders and brackets separately
- one spinnaker
- spinnaker launcher bag
- Backstay adjuster and wire bridle, but no backstay
- lower shrouds
- bow and stern pulpits
- stanchions
- motor bracket - adjustable up and down type
- interior doors, cabinets, floorboards and sink
- all hatches - cockpit port and stbd, main and forward
- all tracks, but not the main traveler
- companionway hatch slide
- companionway ladder
- a couple of harken cam cleats and eyes that are still on the deck and will come off after I cut up the boat

The launcher bag has some small mildew spots that some bleach/borax will fix. No loose seams and clips and stays are all good.

I actually have two spinnakers - a white Quantum runner and Blue/Gold UK reacher/runner. Both are in good used condition, with some small areas of sail repair tape that needs to be pulled off and redone w fresh tape. All of the needed patches are in white material on both sails, so one roll of tape will leave you with plenty left over. These are not big event race-winning sails, but would be good for club/weeknight racing and/or cruising.

I purchased a 1986 J/24 that I haven’t yet seen in person (really cheap, and couldn’t help myself. Boat is in MA and I am currently in NC).
It has only upper life lines, and I can’t tell from pictures their condition. I thought i’d buy ‘new’ ones if they were in good condition. I am also not sure that all stanchions are in good shape, but they look OK.

I have no idea what to offer for your used lifelines. Are they in decent shape? Is there a gate clasp on one end? I’ll try to call you to discuss.
