News Optimist – Dutch Youth Regatta – Workum NED – Start today

At the the DYR location writing this! The DYR is always scheduled during the Ascension Day Weekend and always in Workum.

Carolyn Brouwer, current Female Sailor of the Year and member of the winning Volvo Ocean Team put it nicely: “... Win in Workum and you can win everywhere!”

14 -18 knots of wind (WSW) today. This wind direction is resposible for short, but rather high ‘chop’. Fighting the elements is a big part of the Workum-experience!

In total, there are 4 Days of racing: 3-4-4-3 races from Thursday up to Sunday.

Dutch sailors ranking #1 after day one in the 4.7 and Radial. No Standard participants this year. Nacra 15 obviously in ‘rising’ with 40+ boats (!) from all over world attending.
