One of the more spectacular pictures from the 2012 Italian championship regatta

Thanks Marco Wenk; fabulous work!

This is ingenious! A little more height and he might have actually pulled off a really, really quick 360. Of course the rules do say that we need to do both a tack and a jibe for the turn to be legit, but it looks like he actually has that figured out, too, with some flips of the boom with his hand while he's airborne. If he gets this move down, it really raises the bar for penalty turns. Can't wait to see his 720.

Been there done that.

Ripped Sail: $350
Bent Mast: $200
Cracked mast tube: $75
Witty reply to a park ranger who told me I couldn't land there: Got me out of a fine
Memories of a fun ride: Priceless

picture, if you will, a 2nd crew member, who looks a bit like my son Ben, in the air ABOVE this sailer....
sudden onset of a thunderstorm, just minutes before making landfall on the north side of the Saint John river, Ben & I achieved flight speed and caused quite a ruccus amongst the local rescue folk.... all ended well...

You all missed the point. This is a new Euro-racing move called a "roll pitchpole." The problem is you can only do it once (per boat).
