Old-Style Rudder Cheeks?

Hey now,

This 81 sunfish belonged to my late father. I took her on, and as I was prepping to sail later this week, I discovered there's no damn rudder cheek assembly (main bolt, tension springs, etc) — looks like he never got around to mounting his latest homemade blade. God knows where the original hardware is now.

I was hoping to find an original metal assembly to match the rest of the hardware, but I can't find one online. And the synthetic ones are a bit pricier than I was anticipating.

Any clue where I could get an old-style metal cheek assembly? I'm also open to DIY options and retrofitting similar, cheaper parts — he would have liked that.

It’s actually the ‘new style’ you’re looking for. They are pricey- even at Intensity Sails it’s $105 for the plastic one. They come up on eBay once or twice a month and the most recent ones have sold for $60-$70 (plus shipping) This forum is a good place to ask, too (in ‘wanted’ section)
