Where I sail there is light wind and a lot of motor boats creating unpredictable wakes. Is there any particular technique that helps to minimize the disruption of these wakes to my boat speed?
Don't sail dead into the wake. Always take it at an angle. If it's light heel your boat to leeward while going through the wave and then flatten the boat once it's past. DW sit forward and hold the boom out with your arm/hand. Still take the wave at an angle off the bow while heeling the boat to weather.
