I have read many posts on bent masts and how newer masts are more flexible, and how older masts are stronger.... so and so has bent this many new masts yet had his old mast for a million years with no problems....the point....has anyone actually measured the mast bend to see if the older masts are actually stronger and stiffer...if so id would enjoy reading some of the measurements

this doesnt answer your question at all; infact, it isnt even an answer, but a related topic... does anyone know anyting about the radial carbon top sections?
I think Oscar Johansen, of Royal Canadian Yacht Club, looked into it some, he just got back from a tornadoe campaign. I remember taking some notes one time from him on mast wall thicknesses and what combinations were faster in different breeze, I think I lost the notes though, maybe he still has some.
