Acquired a daysailer from 1992 built by Mcglaughlin Our main and jib halyards come out at bottom of mast. The main halyard travels up through and back into opening in mast. Not sure what purpose is. Seems like maybe to assist in pulling down sail? It only pulls one way. This is a Procter Mast tapered for the DS 1 (Day sailor) Not sure how attached inside mast. We plan to replace line attached to wire inside mast we can retrieve that end but the other end disappears into mast and seems trapped. Been sailing 30 years have never seen this kind of rigging on a halyard. Any knowledge of this rigging and how to get line out of mast to replace whole halyard, and is it necessary to rig that way.
