Making The Deck Look Like A Factory Sunfish.

I have seen many videos of older sunfish having a almost brand new look. How is possible and how involved is it? Also the hair line cracks in the deck, will they be repaired in the process? if not how can I repair them?

Try 3-M Fiberglass restoring compound with wax. This is a mildly abrasive rubbing compound with a little wax added that will remove the hazy oxidized surface and greatly improve the appearance of the deck. It comes in two strengths for mild or heavy oxidation. It might remove small scratches but not true gelcoat cracks. It is available at West Marine, Boat US and other marine stores. You rub it in and buff it off. A machine buffer will work best but you can do it by hand.

Depends on how bad your deck is. Many small hairline and spider cracks will come out with a wetsanding or polishing.

If it's pretty bad you'll need to sand it smooth, use a good primer that will fill the tiny cracks, and then repaint with a high quality paint. Preferrable marine topside paint.
