Mainsail Battens

I left my main with a sailmaker in Florida when I was down on spring break with the family. I had some reefing points installed. They did an awesome job. I had pulled my battens out, so they would not have to worry with them, and they were shipping my sail back to me.

The battens are tappered, and I did not pay attention to how they came out of the sail. There is a thin end and a thick end.

I suspect the thin ends go to the inside of the sail and the thick ends to the trailing edge of the sail. Any suggestions/corrections?

I had the reefing points installed so I can sail easier in the heavy air. I was in Gulf of Mexico and the winds were building all day. My last time out I needed another 100-200 pounds of ballast, but no one would volunteer to go out with me. It was fun, but the main was getting over powered too easily.

thanks
