Launching & retrieving a skiff on a beach in shore break

Does anyone have any tips as to how to launch & retrieve a skiff in beach break? I read the laser threads which were helpful, but I was hoping for some tips for a skiff.

We have a long daggerboard (about 1.5 metres) and a drop down rudder blade. We cant really pull the board up too much without it interfering with the vang.

We have our nationals soon & will have to do it there for the first time. I don't want to damage the boat, and it's definitely not as tough as a laser.

People have told us to carry the boat on our shoulders out past the shore break but I was wondering if this is the best/only way to do it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
 
Tough issue.
Since you will be in a big event (Nationals), you won't be by yourself and there may well be a practice race ahead of time. Anyway, watch what the others are doing prior to getting your skiff in the water. Then copy.
