Last sail summer of 2021

Had my last hour of joy for 2021 as it’s time to store everything away. It was late afternoon, light winds, had the bay to myself while I gave thanks to the universe for so many blessings in my life. And high on the list is the almost indescribable joy and peace this old lady feels gliding on the water in her little boat. Have a good and safe winter and see you out there come May!

Weston, that’s what has frustrated me all summer. It’s a shallow bay so I need higher tide, medium winds and milder weather. Here on Long Island we’ve had a lot of rain and some storms passing through. I estimate I was able to sail about half as often as I was last summer. Hope the wind picks up for you.

The weather certainly has been crazy this year. I’ve had to find times during the week where I could take a little break from work and get out during the day, as so many of the weekends were rainy or a crowded holiday weekend or light winds. I didn’t start until June 4th this year but I’ve still managed to get out 28 times.

First time ever sailing my Sunfish in October. Forecast was an 80°F day with nice winds, plus my oldest son T2 was home from college (MSU) for the weekend - seemed like a great day to enjoy the water. T2 sailed the Minifish, me on the Sunfish.

Looks like pure joy and sailing in tandem with your son a great pleasure. He looks quite relaxed in his mini. Hope you can repeat in spring.

All that sailing consumed 981 calories!

I'm giving up on rowing. ;)
Lol, yeah, I'm not so sure about the calorie count... I have to select "Other" to track it on my GPS Garmin watch, and after the sailing is done, I can edit the type of activity to "sailing" - Garmin changes the speed to knots and distance to nautical miles, but I don't think it knows how to correctly calculate a calorie count.
