Laser Radial Optimum Weight

Hi everyone, at the moment i sail a radial and i weigh about 55 kg. I usually sail in a force 4 or sometimes 5. I might start racing my boat more soon and was wondering whether its worth looking into a 4.7 ( mind you i'm a 13 year old boy so i've still got some growing to do!)
What do you guys think?

You are on the light side of the ideal Radial weight, so a 4.7 would be a better fit.

However you should pick whichever is going to be more fun for you (and it's your definition, not someone elses')

That growing can happen pretty quickly, don't be surprised if you add on another 8-10kg by next year

Unless you sail on a sheltered pond I'd say get a 4.7 for now. When you grow you can buy a radial rig and sell the 4.7 rig (plenty of people want them second hand) so it won't cost you much to change up when you need to. If you start with too big a rig you run the risk of injury, plus the 4.7 handicap is pretty generous if you sail it well in breeze!
