Class Politics Laser Radial Bottom Section SLEEVES

Can someone please help me? I found this on the Australian Laser Web Site at http://www.laser.asn.au

How do I know if my bottom section is legal?

Why were masts sold which are now illegal?

How come ILCA admits the Laser Radial Bottom section is faulty yet they continue to fart arse around with soutions?

RADIAL BOTTOM SECTION SLEEVES

For a period of time the ILCA attempted to address the bending of Laser Radial Bottom sections by putting in longer sleeves or sleeves located in near the top of the section. This was performed as a temporary fix to a problem but the ILCA believed it just shifted the problem to a new location.

These Radial Bottom Sections are illegal and can not be used at any Laser Association Event, including the World Radial Championships in Brisbane in April 2004.

A legal radial section is shown in the ILCA Handbook and on the ILCA Website - Measurement Diagrams
http://www.laserinternational.org/rules/measdiag.htm

The onus is always on the competitor, to make sure their boat complies with the ILCA Rules, saying that you purchased the boat in its current setup, is no excuse.

The reference to "ILCA" above may not be appropriate. This may be a practice of "Performance Sailcraft ( Australia ) Pty. Ltd", independently of ILCA.

Needs to be double checked before addressing these questions directly to "ILCA".

I ahve just got off the phone to my local dealer about this

the illegal bottom sections in question have a sleeve that goes almost to the top of the bottom section as opposed to the 1400mm sleeve all the others have.
