jib car placement

relative newbee here..., hoping to get my boat wet for the first time in the next couple of weeks but I am missing the port screw for the jib car adjustment.

I remember reading in the Quantum Tuning guide (which I can't seem to even google and find today) some suggestions about modifying the screw so that it doesn't crab your shorts, sheets, etc.

Do/can I just use a regular machine screw to replace my missing screw or do I need to call catalina direct and order the part and then modify this?
