Jens Rig

I have never used the Jens Rig but wanted to see the setup, so today I rigged it on land based on the method from this site. I used the second halyard looped over the mast about 12 inches from the top. I did move the halyard down from the normal racing location down about one full sail clip. After I raised the sail the boom seems high off the deck. It was a good foot. Is that normal? Also, i felt like it was hard to keep the upper spar snug against the mast.

Thanks.

Just keep playing with the (halyard and gooseneck) settings until it looks about right; then go try it in some real wind. Should be fun; I have yet to try it myself because there is hardly ever enough wind around the Nation's Capital (except for that other kind of wind), so don't take my 'advice' too seriously.

The second halyard should be as snug as possible; did you put a cleat on the mast for that?
