Inspection Hatch

I have a year old laser and am wondering whether I should install an inspection hatch. Some people say it will let water in and damage the boat. Other people say you should have one, if you don’t have a hatch you can’t tell if water is getting in.
I was wondering what everyone thought.

If your boat is not already taking on water, do not install an inspection port. You should never have to anyways on a 1 year old boat. I would wait at least 5 years or so before I'd cut it open...
