Holt Allen Laser Upgrades

I just bought a Holt Allen Vang, Cunningham, and outhaul for my laser from Intensity Sails. I am unsure on how to set them up. If anyone knows anything about these pieces pleas reply. Thank you

No instructions or diagrams included? Then it would be best to for you to list and describe the parts you have (or even better, post pictures of all of the stuff), so we can see what you can rig with them. There are many different ways to set up the systems, no one is the only correct way, and I'm not sure if what you get from Intensity is the original package (they talk about Vectran lines but show the original Dyneema ones).

Although these photos don't necessarily show the Holt Allen/Intensity gear set up, looking at all of these from different angles should help you get an idea of how your set up will look.

Threading the line for the Holt Allen vang is easier when you have a photo as a guide. Here's the photo I used. Not sure if this is correct but it seems to work for me.

I attempted to put the vang together based on the pictures and this is what I got. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is correct.

These are the all of the parts that I ordered:

and the website I ordered them from: (out haul & Cunningham: http://www.intensitysails.com/holatupoforo.html) (Vang:http://www.intensitysails.com/holaxdvaco.html)

Can't see the pictures...

Ok, the vang package looks like it's complete (and fairly straightforward to rig - just remember that the secondary [cleating] line is actually supposed to cross itself at some point). The cunningham/outhaul picture is missing at least one block, though. The forkhead blocks attach to the deck plate, the hook block to the clew, but you need three more blocks to rig a 4:1 cunningham and a 4:1 outhaul (and another two more for the more common 6:1 setups for both, but that's yet another story).

The secondary outhaul line (the pink one) is intended to be attached to the old outhaul cleat on the boom, then taken through a block at the end of the primary line (which may be too long, adjust the knots if it is), along the boom forward and then down along the mast through a block tied to the gooseneck fitting.

I don't see a primary line for the cunningham, so the yellow line does the whole thing. Tie it in the middle to the upper pin on the vang cleating fitting, take one end through the hole in the sail and tie a block to the end. Then take the other end through that block towards the deck. Adjust the knot on the vang fitting so that the block is at boom level when the cunningham is fully loose.

This should get you going. You may want to adjust the line lengths, and get more purchase for the cunningham & outhaul, but first go sailing and see how it works.

I know this is about two months too late but I had this question earlier in the season, here are the instructions specifically for what is provided in the holt allen upgrade kit. The loops around the boom are entirely unnecessary, and frankly kind of annoying. RULE CHANGES General Background
