Harken stand up boot for mainsheet block

Hi I bought a harken rubber stand up boot for my 57mm mainsheet block...Do I use the stand up spring and the boot or just use the rubber boot to hold the block up? Thanks

I have 3 boats.
  • The 77 Sunfish came with the rubber boot
  • On the 75 Minifish, I mounted the spring
  • But on the 76 Super Sunfish, I mounted a Harken stand up base (hockey puck looking thingy)
Of the three, I like the stand up base because I can more easily swap out blocks for different purposes. Especially on the Super Sunfish, which normally has a fiddle block with a built in cleat. But if I want to put a standard lateen Sunfish rig on the Super, I need to swap out the fiddle block with a ratchet block. It is difficult to quickly swap out blocks if I was using the spring or boot. But the pin and retainer ring are easily removed on the stand up hockey puck.

Note that I had to grind down the trailing edge of the hockey puck because the lip on the sunfish deck is curved.
