Hi all
Have you any suggestion for gymn exercises ( stratching and power ones) for the cold winter months?
Also tables or training schedules are welcome. Please not too hard because I'm not too young... but always ready for sailing.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Here's some gym exercises for Laser sailing that you can do at home. http://www.uiowa.edu/~sail/library/skills/hikingexercises1.htm

I can vouch for these Rosenberg exercises! I'm getting kinda old for the boat (58!), but since I started these I note improved boat-handling strength and stamina. (and my wife likes the muscles, too!)

If you get a membership at a gym, all you have to do is tell them what you're doing and a professional can set you up with a routine.
If that's convenient.

I have to say, I don't know what the staff are like in the gyms where you are but if they are anything like the UK don't go anywhere near them for anything other than basic fitness advice, and then treat with caution.

The minimum uk qualification for fitness/gym instructor (which the vast majority of UK instructors hold) is way too basic for advanced or specific users.

Get a hold of Micheal Blackburn's book "Sail Fitter"

It's very specific for sailing fitness and with a focus on Laser sailing (he is the current world champ), and covers fitness goals and recommendations for differant ages as well. The appendix has a full details on excersizes for the gym

That book is soo expensive. Do you think it is worth the price?

I bought it directly from the sailfitter.com site - I think it's about $27 (US). Frankly I think that is a bargain and money well spent for what is in the book. You can spend waay more on a session with a sailing coach or personal trainer and not get the same amount of info.

work on short bursts of exploding energy for sure. Dont do long runs, but mabye short sprints. Tone you're arm muscles so you can pull in the main.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree here.

Sailing is the only sport I can think of off the top of my head where you are potentially exerting with no break for 7 or 8 hours. Short bursts may be great for something like tennis or baseball but certainly not sailing. You should run long distances, work on endurance-building exercises. Specifically biceps, abdominals, and quads, but your whole body in general.
Again, I'll stress what I said earlier- try to find a specialist who can give you a personalised plan.
