I am having trouble getting my gust adjust right. I can get the upper boom snug to the mast at the jens position but am having trouble getting the upper boom snug to the mast at the regular position...any ideas?

Can you post a picture? Otherwise it is very hard to diagnose the issue. BB
The distance from your mast cap hole down to the Gust Adjust loop is "X".
Example: X=18"
If your Normal halyard position is 106" from the bottom of the upper spar your Gust Adjust halyard would be at 88" from bottom of the upper spar.
So "X" on the mast ="X" on the boom
This should fix the problem.
