Good places to sail in RI

I am going to be fixing up a laser this may and will be looking to sail it in souther RI. I am looking for some suggestions on places to sail? can I take it out to sea or should I stick to bays and ponds. I have done a little bit of sailing perviously, a day or two in a laser/sunfish; and two weeks of big boat sailing a few years ago with my family, I did also get my ASA 101 certification. any help would greatly appreciated.

You can't go wrong with Newport, some of the best sailing in the world IMO.

I'll deffinity go there if I can, it's a like a half an hour drive, does any body know of one close to westerly?
