Kiel, GermanyJune 26, 2008A fickle and unpredictable right shift complicated things during three races at the Grade 1 Kieler Woche Regatta (http://www.kieler-woche.de/eng/englishdefault.htm) today. The long day proved tiring for all of us. I found myself fighting to get back into contention in all three races but places of 8-1-3 lifted me into fourth place overall.Today, the wind had reversed and was blowing off the cliffs, completely in the opposite direction from yesterday. It was shifty and blowing 13-15 knots with gusts into the high teems. Our blue fleet had the second start which provided an opportunity to watch and analyse the yellow fleet’s moves but each time my first beats didn’t play out as I’d planned.
