I took my freshly restored fish out for a first race last night and capsized in about 15 knots. The water level here is low, and the gaff got stuck in the lake bed, probably 7-8 feet down. As a result, I couldn't get the boat righted until things drifted around and it came unstuck. If it weren't for the lake bed, I wouldn't have had a problem, but this isn't an unusual problem in that particular lake (Lake Monroe in central Florida). Does anyone use a float panel or something similar to prevent turtling?
