Fleet 22 News, Spring 2004

Fleet 22, Mountain View, CA - Fleet 22's multi design winter series for boats up to 16 feet concluded Dec. 20th. The Lido of Jim Mackey with his crew rotations featuring his daughters Sarah and Brigid along with their friend Brooke smoked the fleet to retain his trophy from the prior season (it does help that the Mackey family shows up for every race!). Chris Ducker with crew Adeline and Erica managed to give Jim some trouble late in the series. They placed well in a Capri 14.2 rented from Shoreline Aquatic Center in the beginning of the season; but, when Chris brought his own Lido with crisp sails, Jim had some scrambling to do in the remaining races. When not crewing for her dad and assisting him to first place, Sarah Mackey had consistent finishes in her El Toro throughout the season to take third in the standings. John Rivlin and crewman Michael could have placed their rented Capri 14.2 higher if it hadn't been for their other time commitments. When they did race, they had a number of top 3 finishes along with a victories.

The warm weather series begins at 6 o'clock every Wednesday starting April 7th and concluding when the time switches back to obscurity October 20th. New sailing faces and graduates from Shoreline Aquatic Center's sailing programs will add new dimension to the upcoming multi design series held for monohull sailboats under 16 feet. All are welcome to our 55 acre saltwater lake. Thanks to Jim Mackey for organizing this highly addictive and fun sailing series. We here at Shoreline Aquatic Center invite you to bring your Capri to give Jim some friendly competition. Call Victor Rising at (650) 965-7474 for more details.
