News Fifth Overall and Ready for the Medal Race (Anna Tunnicliffe)

Miami, FloridaJanuary 26, 2007My scores were OK today, but not spectacular. I finished 11-9-8 in the last three races of the Gold Fleet competition in the Laser Radial Class at the US Sailing Rolex Olympic Classes Regatta in Miami to end the week in fifth place overall and qualify for the Medal Race tomorrow. If my scores weren’t great, my boat speed and boat handling were good, and that that gave me the boost I needed after my miserable day ‘s performance yesterday when the front came through.We started out with the remnants of the Northerly cold front which was cooling the air over Biscayne Bay today. It was a shifty, puffy breeze that blew at 12 to 14 knots early, and dropped off to 10 to 12 knots as the day warmed and it veered to the right. It was nice sailing but judging the shifts proved tricky.
