Some one in a post below mentioned a drysuit being a good thing to get and I just wanted to underscore this. Nothing but nothing is so frustrating as waiting for the warmer waters to go safely sailing and waiting alll winter and some of spring only to see after a couple of brief months that the season is SHUTING DOWN comes mid to late September. I own a Kokatat DURA and let me tell you, nothings so satisfying as "defying" the cold and extending your season.
Also keep in mind hypothermia is the leading killer of people in personal [small] watercraft. Essentially, buy one now and say to hell with waiting for late April - lol - in CT anyway.
