Drain plugs?

In 1972, the DePersia bailer was replaced with the plastic bailer.

The older bailer froze and didn't really drain well, so people replaced them. People were always loosing the metal plugs so the plastic with the attached plug was easier. When they come on the market they are expensive.

I mean the drain plug on the deck, not the bailer.

The thread is 1/2"-13tpi.

I use a 1/2"-13 x 1" nylon hex bolt. I have a bunch extra and would offer to ship you one, but shipping would cost more than you could just buy one for.

Thanks, that’s awesome. Do you use the 1” or the 3/4”?

O-ring insures no water in drain.
Yes...

The thing is - even without the O-ring you could submerge the drain and water will come through the bolt threads at about an ounce every few hours.

Under normal sailing conditions - the O-ring does basically nothing, because the bolt by itself will stop 99.99% of the water.

It's an extra .10 if you have a local hardware store with a good selection of O-rings sold in singles... free if you have an O-ring sitting around like I did.

...but you're probably looking at $5-$10 if you have to order it.

This is why I’m sure to support my local hardware store when ever possible, a good hardware store is getting as hard to find as a drive in movie.

I’d Rather Be Sailing My Tornado
I go for function. I have a shared shore station where we de-water various small boats. I drilled the appropriate hole in the transom and use one of those rubber and bronze screw-expanding plugs sold in every hardware near water.

If you store your boat on a dolly like this, the drain is always down.
