Deck drain thread data

Can anyone tell me what the diameter and the number of threads per inch is for the original Sunfish brass deck drain?

Outside thread measure is .5 inch.

'Hard to measure just two threads here, but maybe 10/11 threads per inch. (tpi)

Hardware stores carry "set screws" of the correct pitch and tpi for Sunfish. I don't know of an exact duplicate for Sunfish, but a straight cut can be made in the hardware store piece, which may be Allen-head. If only found in steel, wrap with Teflon tape.

They're available in nylon, but don't know of a supplier--aside from Grainger. Let me know what you find, and I'll add it to my signature-line. ;)

Thanks for your prompt reply.Looking on the web the standard set screw seems to be 1/2 13 tpi so I will pick one up and try next time at lake. With COVID it might be still a few weeks but will let you know.

In examining the deck drain, I noticed it was loose in the deck. (Not secured well by the two small pins). :(

Right at hand was a piece of hardware (a shackle) with the pin of the same external measure. Except that it has just started to rain  I would try to remove the drain from the deck.

One might want to have some resin or THIXO handy.

This is my effort at a replacement. You will need a hacksaw, drill gun with 3/32drill and a file . For parts you need a 1/2 13 tpi hex head bolt full thread , 1/2in and 3/4in ‘o’ ring a piece of picture hanging wire.
Cut bolt 5/8in long , drill 3/32 hole up ctr. of bolt 1/2in deep. Heatglue wire in hole, install smaller ‘o’ ring and secure larger to end of about 2in wire. I put slot on bolt head to be able to use coin as screwdriver.
Happy sailing . Nut in picture to simulate deck for ref only
