Davits?

Has anyone ever heard of using davits on a larger boat (40-45) to hoist a capri?

We are looking for a boat in that range and I have a capri.

I guess you could use Davits to host a C14.2. They're about 380 lbs all up. Would you be leaving the mast up? Hoisting it on to a power or sailboat? At MBYC we use a hoist to get the boats in and out of the water all the time but the boats are not left hanging for extended periods of time.

I would be leaving the mast up and the davits would be on a center cocpit ketch wich would leave a little deck space.

If you have the deck space on your ketch and the Capri's mast doesn't foul your ketch's rigging and sail plan, then I guess you could davit the Capri. When we hoist the Capris in/out of the water at MBYC, we have a 4 point lifting bridal that connects to the shroud deck plates and then back to the hiking strap plate at the stern. The 4th point is the lifting ring the hoist connects to. Hopefully someone will explain this better than I have.
