Daggerboard Question

Which edge faces forward the curved or straight edge? Recently sailed a Sunfish for first time and not sure.

Simple aerodynamic explanation if possible.

I have tried both ways and as a new sailor I really did not notice a difference. At higher speeds a slight vibration both ways which was easily cured by lifting board a couple of inches.

I just acquired another Sunfish. This 1978 Sunfish daggerboard handle has an arrow (indicating forward) that indicates the metal clip is to face port. This is the early "round tip" board.

The Barrington or Shadow boards (which are shorter) are said to work either way. Most "official" pictures show the squared-off bottom has the longer edge forward.
