The first of the district's winter regattas got underway this past weekend with the Bluenose hosted by the Kitsilano Yacht Club. Conditions were generally light, with a few gusts reaching 10 knots at the end of the day on Sunday.
Top three Standard Rig competitors were Alexander Heinzemann and Ricardo Montelmayor from the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, and Doug Honey from the Surrey Sailing Club. Top Radial sailors were Isabella Bertold, Natalia Montelmayor, and Joanna Moore, all from the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club.
The next event has normally been the Frigid Digit in Seattle. With the reorganization of the districts this fall, we will unfortunately no longer be in the same district, but I encourage District 6 sailors to make the drive nonetheless and enjoy the fine hospitality that is always shown by the Corinthian Yacht Club and the Seattle Laser Fleet.
