Collapsed leech

Came across this photo. At first I thought the leech was folded away from the camera which would have been wierd, but its toward. Maybe it happens a lot just before a gybe but I have not noticed it before. The sailor has let the kicker off too much as seen in other photos.

Had to study that one for a minute, too. In all my years of sailing Lasers, I don't think I have ever seen that before.

I think you're right, he doesn't have any vang on at all. The boom would really have to sky to allow that to happen.

The way I see it is the sailor is in the process of jibing. You know how the battens fold over before the rest of the sail comes over?

Agreed! thats how mine always looked the moment before the big pump happened. But usually with a lot more wndward roll on!
