I'm planning on mounting a pair of cleats on or near the stern. Does anyone with a set up like this have any pictures?

Mine are original (it would seem)... this what you want? see picture (one on each side like the one on the port side in the picture).
If you are adding them. It would seem like a huge hassle to reach through the access port, to reach up to put something under the fiberglass for the cleat to hold on to (say sliver of wood)... Knowing that you'd have to be a contoursionist (sp) all I can say is, good luck.
Looks like that cleat might be far enough outboard to be through the lip? I dunno, but that IS an option, that'd be easy.
