Class Legal
I've been playing with a shockcode attached from the outhaul cleat on the boom to the clew. I know rule 3.f.iv says the following:

A shockcord may be attached between the outhaul cleat and the clew of the sail, the clew tie down, the optional block at the clew, or the quick release system for use as an inhaul

As you can see from this picture (http:\\www.geocities.com\larsencanvas\shockcord1.jpg) I have the shockcord attached to the shackle. I'm guessing this might not be class legal, unless this shackle is also known as the "quick release system". Is this shackle also call the "quick release system", and is this attachment to the clew class legal?

Also when it say "attached between the outhaul cleat...." is just running th bungee through the outhaul cleat meet the "attached" clause, or does it need to be tied to the outhaul cleat? See pictures here (http:\\www.geocities.com\larsencanvas\shockcord2.jpg) for how I have run a single piece of shockcord throught the outhaul cleat.

I use a piece of bungee (6-12" shorter than the distance from the clew to the cleat when the outhaul is pulled tight) tied to a piece of line (<2 feet), and tie the bungee to the clew, and run the line through the cleat. Having the line allows me to adjust it a little, which is nice. It works pretty well. It may not be legal, but I haven't been protested yet.
