centerboard shock cord

new sailor out of diamond lake michigan ,,would like to know ,do I have to use factory cb cord or can I use 3/8 bungee cord to hold down cb thanks tm

I use a 4' bungee purchased from Lowes which seems to work fine. It's red in color and if you have a Lowes nearby, it's likely you can find the exact same one. It's sold in pairs and I keep the extra in my ditty bag just in case.

I have a question maybe you all can answer. I am setting up my boat and getting familiar with it. I have a thin bungee attached to the CB, but where does the other end attach to?

At the transome, just under where the hiking strap attaches there is an eye ring that the bungee hooks to.

hey Jim , thanks for the advice .I boutht 2 red cords at lows ,,,the factory wanted 20 bucks for the same thing .but worked real good last sunday.. thanks tm
