I am not an experienced laser sailor and I am eyeing two laser purchase options. Both are 2007 boats with full and radial rigs, seitech dolleys and nice top covers, aluminum tillers and extensions. No trailers. Sails are used in both cases but still race-worthy.

The hulls are in good but not excellent shape (ie some cosmetic scrapes w/reasonably stiff decks) with one major exception. One has taken on water and has an approximately nine-inch separation of the hull from the deck. That guy wants $2,800 for that boat. The other boat appears to have a totally solid hull to deck joint and indicates the boat has never taken on any water - that guy wants $4,000.

Based upon what I have read on the forums, I could probably do the repair myself and do a decent job. But I wouldn't mind just paying for the more expensive boat if it will perform better and move me up the fleet sooner. If you know lasers and had the cash for each option what is the better value?

Take the poll if you would...

Thanks
