Bridle attachment method

Is it class legal to attach bridle to the eyelets with pieces of line or shackles? I dropped the bridle backer plate while I was installing a new one. Now I have to open an inspection port to make the boat sea worthy again. I do not want to mess with undoing the screws again in the future because of the mess of dealing with floatation foams.

Any info. appreciated.

The class rules say nothing about how the bridle is to be attached to the boat, but I'm guessing that someone may complain. What I did to replace the bridle is to loosen one screw and remove the other, so that the strap is still attached to the boat but has some leeway to move. That holds the backing plate in place and allows you to slide the bridle underneath the strap.
