Boom block locations

md,

The "PRO" Boom from Vanguard has the blocks in the following locations. The forward block is 66" back from the tack and the rear block is 125" back. My forward block, I moved it forward to 64" from 74". At 74", when the gooseneck was set short (about 14") for light air, the mainsheet was coming to the deck block at about 45°, causing me to have to move back to avoid the mainsheet as the sail changed sides. So I would say anywhere close to 64" to 66" is a good place to start for the front block. My rear block is at 134" (factory) as opposed to the 125" for the "PRO" spar setting. In those ranges you should be good to go.

oompanyc,

Good article, thanks for bringing this site to light. Mdelaney was asking about the mainsheet BLOCKS, not the cleats. The "PRO" boom from Vanguard has the CLEATS in the same positions and distances that Eduardo states in the article.
