bigger sail?

Have mast, sail and rigging from an old force 5 sailboat. I know that I can adapt it to fit my laser. Any thoughts?
 
So you can have a Laser 8.5? Well, if you know you can (and want to) do it, then go ahead and post all the pictures here...

Which boom do you intend to use, how do the foot lengths compare? Are the mast thicknesses similar enough?

I wouldn't do anything irreversible to any part.
