News Andrey Quintero Captures South American Title

If you missed them, the below has a link to the results and photos from the Sunfish South Americans, which wrapped up a couple weeks ago in Ecuador. I was planning to attend but had to have my hip replaced.

Andrey Quintero of Colombia won his first Sunfish South American title. In route to the victory, Quintero topped 24 competitors from 6 countries. Over the 9 race series Quintero won 6 races. The races were often contested in extreme conditions with winds averaging 20 to 25 knots and waves an average of 2 meters.
Bermuda’s multiple World Champion Malcolm Smith was second. Local favorite Gabriel Moran finished third. The top 5 was rounded out by 2008 Sunfish World Championship runner up Marx Chirinos of Venezuela, and Willo Cappeletti of Peru.
