A Steal?

I just picked up a one owner 1982 Laser in good condition ready to sail, complete with trailer and all rigging. I only paid $400.00 cash. I'm thinking it should have sold for 2 or 3 times that amount. Any comments.
Also, the only thing that it does not have is a hiking harness. I have never sailed a Laser before. Do I need a harness? Thanks

the price of a old laser reflects it condition ,especialy if you are going to race.remember updating to the new rigging system ,a new sail etc its easy to spend a lot more than the purchase price.if your boat has no leaks /damage/good mast step /foils/sail/spars etc you got a bargin.how much you spend on a laser depends on your intended use your ability etc .there is a foot strap which runs accross the cente of the cockpit which you place your feet under.as you get better you can get hiking pants which support your calves when hiking for longer periods. good luck with the boat post a picture best wishes sean
