62yo and want to race

Should I pursue a laser or should i settle mwith the milder sunfish?
I'm well built and in good shape.
Im a sailing instructor/coach in tropical Puerto Rico north shore.
There is a sunfish group, but kind of informal bbq style activities.

There is also a national coach that practices with the natl. Laser, 420, Opti, Snipes, etc.​

But I dont know of any masters or grand masters groups here.​

Any suggestions, Im all ears!!!​

Go for the laser, we have several GGM's in our fleet and they're very competitive!
