2011 Nationals

Brian Anderson is the PRO for the event being held at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego, CA. The general # for the club is 858-488-0501. Weather has been great in the last few weeks. This weekend past, August 20 and 21 it was sunny , around 72 on the water and wind between 5-11 knots out of the north west with oscillations of 10-20 degrees. Racing on the bay's flat water and low current is always fun and close. Another contact at MBYC is Doug Hart, Board Race Committee and Commodore Mike Poltorack.

Capri 14.2 Fleet Captain is Samantha Olenick [email protected]

I am going to be flying in that Saturday for a conference that the Admiral and I are attending starting on the next Wednesday, 21st. Not presently planning on racing, but would love to at least do some watching.

Anyone coming to San Diego for the Capri 14.2 Nationals???

We'll be there...
There will be at least 4 boats coming from Az to race.

Also, don't miss the Women's Nationals Friday afternoon. Talk is there are 6 to 8 teams (women skippers) that will be competing.

Great time for the few that came to this year's event. Results are below. RC got 5 races in on Saturday and another 3 on Sunday. Sunny and shifty conditions both days.

Sorry to say no video. There should be some images but I am no certain where they might be. Its tough enough to put race committee together for a couple of days much less having a boat with a driver and a camera operator. Maybe next time someone will get it done.

The Admiral and I arrived in San Diego late afternoon on the Saturday of the Nationals. After finding the MBYC, ringing the bell, the gate was opened and we found the whole group on the back porch of the club. We were welcomed with open arms, never meet a more friendly group of people.

Since the racing was over for the day, we were invited back for breakfast, and were allowed to watch the racing on the committee boat. The Admiral really had her eyes opened as to what sailboat racing was all about. We had a great time and have put next year on the calendar.

I want to thank Brian, Doc, and the whole race committee for a great time on the water. Also found all of the people who were there, very friendly and willing to discuss anything about their boats, rigging, sales, tactics. Talking to Scott was very informative.

Again thanks to the whole MBYC crew and all of the new friends that we meet, that weekend.
