The 2009 Masters' US Championship was sailed August 13-15. The event was hosted by the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club and featured sailing on the beautiful waters of the south end of Monterey Bay. Nine races were held over the three day event with conditions ranging from shifty and puffy the first day to the steady and gentle seabreeze, and nice ocean swell, that Monterey is famous for the final two days. The event was dedicated to the memory of Tony Dahlman, a Laser Master from the Lake Tahoe area, who was stricken during the first race and, sadly, passed away the next day.
