The 2009 District 6 Championship, worth 20 points towards the LaserPerformance - ILCA-NA Grand Prix, was held the weekend of July 11-12 with sailing in the Columbia River Gorge at Cascade Locks and organized by the Columbia Gorge Racing Association. Fifty two sailors competed over the weekend, with 22 racing in the Standard fleet and 30 in the Radial Fleet. Saturday served up the fabled gorge conditions, with bright sunshine and breeze averaging mid-twenties and gusting to the low thirties, Sunday was cool and cloudy with wind more to the mid-teens. After 8 races, Derek Vranizan dominates the Standard Fleet, followed by Ricardo Montemayor and Tracy Usher.
